Former President Donald Trump surprised customers and reporters at a Pennsylvania McDonald’s on Sunday by putting on an apron and serving French fries during a campaign stop.
Trump, who was in the state to rally support ahead of the upcoming election, spent part of his day working the McDonald’s fry station, taking playful jabs at Vice President Kamala Harris along the way.
Upon entering the restaurant, Trump greeted the crowd, joking, “It’s my first day at McDonald’s, I’m looking for a job.” Thousands of his supporters gathered outside as he served customers and interacted with reporters.
He also used the moment to criticize Harris, claiming she had falsely stated she once worked at McDonald’s.
“I’ve now worked for 15 minutes more than Kamala at McDonald’s,” Trump quipped from the drive-thru window. He added that McDonald’s had “confirmed four times” that Harris never worked for the fast-food chain, before quickly pivoting to praise the business and declare his intention to “make America greater than ever before.”
As he served fries and handed out orders, Trump also touched on various topics, including his call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, raising the minimum wage, and even took a moment to wish Harris a happy birthday.
Throughout the shift, Trump remained in high spirits, expressing his fondness for McDonald’s and its role in providing jobs for many Americans.
“I love McDonald’s, I love jobs, and I like to see good jobs,” Trump told reporters while cooking. “It’s inappropriate when someone falsely claims they worked here.” He continued to compliment the restaurant’s staff and manager, promising to improve the country if elected president again.
The McDonald’s owner, Derek Giacomantonio, welcomed Trump’s visit, sharing with Fox News Digital that the restaurant provided an important job experience for many.
“As a former crew member, I can attest that this job is more than burgers and fries, but a meaningful pathway to opportunity,” Giacomantonio said. He added that local franchisees were proud to offer more than 25,000 jobs across Pennsylvania.
During the event, one surprised customer from Brazil, who met Trump at the drive-thru, pleaded with him not to let the U.S. follow the path of her home country.
“Please don’t let the United States become Brazil,” she said as Trump handed her the food. Trump responded with reassurance, saying, “We’re gonna make it better than ever.”
Following Trump’s fry cook shift, the Harris-Walz campaign issued a response, criticizing Trump’s actions. Spokesperson Joseph Costello said, “Trump doesn’t understand what it’s like to work for a living, no matter how many staged photo ops he does.”
Costello went on to emphasize Harris’s record of standing up for workers and promised that she would continue to fight for fair treatment and opportunities if elected.
Trump’s visit to McDonald’s was part of a busy day in Pennsylvania, where he also hosted a town hall in Lancaster and attended the Steelers-Jets NFL game in Pittsburgh later in the evening, continuing his efforts to sway voters in the key swing state with just 15 days remaining until Election Day.
