The Democratic Party is making a bold move tonight at a rally supporting Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in Michigan, a crucial battleground state.
According to CNN, hometown star Eminem is set to introduce former President Barack Obama at a campaign event in Detroit.
Though Eminem, the rap icon with numerous multiplatinum albums, isn’t expected to perform, sources indicate that he will welcome Obama on stage and deliver a short speech discussing the presidential race.
Eminem has been a vocal supporter of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, lending his 2002 hit song “Lose Yourself” to a campaign ad in 2020.
The rapper has previously expressed fierce criticism of Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, especially during a fiery freestyle performance titled “The Storm” at the 2017 BET Awards, where he referred to Trump as a “racist.”
Obama, during his own 2008 presidential campaign, shared that “Lose Yourself” was one of his favorite tracks to get energized before speeches.
As the presidential election approaches its final stretch, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are neck and neck in five pivotal battleground states, including Michigan, according to polling averages from the New York Times.
Neither candidate holds a lead of even one point in these states. The five states in play are Pennsylvania, Michigan, Nevada, Wisconsin, and North Carolina.
However, the New York Times emphasizes that the polling leads in these states are so narrow that they’re essentially meaningless.
The paper states, “The polls simply are not precise enough for a 0.2-point edge to convey any meaningful information.
For all purposes, the race is tied; don’t feel any sorrow or take any solace in whether your candidate is on the right or wrong side of that 0.2-point gap.”
In North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, neither candidate is ahead by more than two-tenths of a percentage point.
Winning at least one of these states is crucial for either candidate to secure the presidency.
