Former NFL star Antonio Brown recently endorsed Donald Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania, where he played most of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Brown, returning to his old stomping grounds, addressed a supportive crowd, aiming to “make a positive difference” in Trump’s campaign.
In his speech, Brown took jabs at Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, specifically mocking Walz for a 2023 law mandating free tampons in school bathrooms, including those used by boys.
Brown criticized the policy, calling it “insane,” and dismissed Walz’s qualifications as a football coach, referencing his brief stint coaching high school football in the 1990s. “He isn’t a real football coach. He could never guard me,” Brown quipped.
Brown was joined by former Steelers teammate Le’Veon Bell, who also showed support for Trump. Both athletes, once key figures in the Steelers’ offense, now campaign for Trump in Pennsylvania, a crucial battleground state.
Brown even praised his former quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, despite their past feud, calling him his “favorite quarterback.”
Brown’s NFL career, filled with highs and lows, saw him leave Pittsburgh after a conflict with Roethlisberger. He briefly joined the Raiders but never played a game for them.
His return to football with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, led by Tom Brady, resulted in a Super Bowl win in 2021. However, his time with Tampa ended in controversy after he stormed off the field mid-game in 2021, and he hasn’t played since.
Off the field, Brown’s behavior has raised concerns, with several legal issues and erratic social media posts. He has claimed that some of his actions may be linked to chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a brain disease caused by repeated head injuries common in football.
Although CTE can only be diagnosed after death, Brown has suggested it has impacted his life.
Despite his controversies, Brown has remained a loyal Trump supporter, praising the former president for his business acumen and contributions to the hip-hop community.
Brown’s vocal support for Trump has grown, particularly in Pennsylvania, where his popularity could influence voters. He’s met with Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., and running mate JD Vance as part of his involvement in Trump’s campaign.
Pennsylvania remains a critical state for the 2024 election. A recent Fox News poll shows the race between Trump and Kamala Harris is extremely close, with Harris leading by just two points among registered voters.
As the election nears, Brown’s public endorsement and campaigning could play a role in shifting voter sentiment in this key battleground.
